Cantonal Subsidy Programs

Basel-Stadt:
The Canton of Basel-Stadt reimburses 20% of the purchase price of pure electric vehicles (up to a maximum of CHF 5,000 per vehicle) to companies based in the canton. Passenger cars, vans, and three- and two-wheeled electric vehicles are subsidized—as long as they have purely electric drive. Cargo bikes and e-bikes are explicitly excluded. The cantonal subsidy runs until December 2022:

Schaffhausen:
Only pure electric vehicles (without combustion engine) and fuel cell vehicles are subsidized.
Subsidy: Passenger cars, light motor vehicles, delivery vans, small motor vehicles, light motor vehicles: CHF 2,000 per vehicle / Motorcycles up to 11 kW motor power: CHF 500 per vehicle

Kanton-Schaffhausen

Geneva:
In the Canton of Geneva, charging stations on individual parking spaces in single or multi-family homes are subsidized with up to CHF 1,000, and charging stations shared by several residents with up to CHF 2,000. Subvention borne électromobilité

Thurgau:
The Canton of Thurgau subsidizes electric cars with CHF 2,000, electric motorcycles up to 11 kW with CHF 500, and pays a bonus for solar systems of CHF 2,000. Energie Thurgau

Valais:
From November 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022, subsidies are granted for vehicles and charging stations. The subsidies for vehicles Canton Du Valais are:

Cities

Delémont:
The Service industriels de Delémont (SID) supports the purchase of a new or used electric vehicle with 15% of the net purchase price and up to CHF 3,000. A vehicle that has already been the subject of municipal subsidization is not eligible for additional subsidization. This subsidy is valid for any natural or legal person whose tax domicile and main residence is in Delémont.

Gland:
CHF 1,500 within the available budget of the City of Gland for the purchase of an electric vehicle. The application can be submitted after purchase (max. 3 months). The applicant purchases the car for personal use and commits not to resell it within two years of purchase.

Nyon:
CHF 750 for the purchase of an electric vehicle (including hybrids). Valid for individuals and companies based in Nyon.

Prilly:
CHF 2,000 for the purchase of an electric car. Valid for persons residing in Prilly. Applications can be submitted every 5 years.

Renens:
CHF 750 for the purchase of an electric vehicle. Valid for individuals and companies based in Renens. Applications can be submitted every 7 years. Ville de Renens

St. Gallen:
Subsidies are granted for the purchase and leasing of new vehicles for commercial use of purely electric or plug-in hybrid passenger cars (driver’s license category B) with CO2 emissions of less than 50 g/km and a new price under CHF 60,000 (according to the current consumption catalog of TCS and EnergieSchweiz). The contribution amounts to a maximum of 15 percent of the purchase price for the basic equipment plus any battery rentals for four years. For leasing, the contribution is paid in four installments at the beginning of each contract year. Proof must be provided that the leasing contract is still active. There are subsidies for electric cars: CHF 4,500/5,000 with heat pump, passenger cars with plug-in hybrid drive: CHF 2,500, electrically powered cargo bikes: CHF 1,000. Charging stations for electric vehicles that are usable beyond purely private use are subsidized with a maximum of 50 percent of the installation costs, but no more than CHF 100 per kW maximum output power. For charging stations registered in the Ostmobil system, the contribution is CHF 150 per kW maximum output power.

Zurich:

The electricity utility of the City of Zurich (ewz) can provide contributions to promote renewable energy within the framework of the 2000-watt goals.

Subsidy for private charging infrastructure: Charging points with a power output of up to 22 kW are subsidized. For charging points without load management, the subsidy amounts to 40% of the costs of the charging infrastructure and direct installation costs or CHF 80 per kW connection power. The lower amount applies. For charging points with load management, the subsidy amounts to 60% of the costs of the charging infrastructure and direct installation costs or CHF 150 per kW connection power. The lower amount applies.

Subsidy for publicly accessible charging infrastructure: For charging points up to 22 kW with alternating current (AC), the subsidy amounts to 40% of the costs of the charging infrastructure and direct installation costs or CHF 120 per kW connection power. The lower amount applies. Charging points with a connection power greater than 22 kW (so-called fast charging stations) are operated with direct current (DC). The subsidy amounts to 60% of the costs of the charging infrastructure and direct installation costs or CHF 200 per kW connection power. The lower amount applies.

Canton of Lucerne

  • Municipality of Hochdorf: CHF 500 for electric vehicles. A maximum of one vehicle per applicant is eligible for subsidy. Mobilität Gemeinde Hochdorf

Canton of Schwyz

  • Service area of the Elektrizitätswerk des Bezirks Schwyz (ebs): CHF 300 for the purchase of new electric vehicles with a purchase price over CHF 3,000 or CHF 1,000 for the purchase of new electric vehicles with a purchase price over CHF 10,000. Canton of Thurgau

  • Electricity customers of EW Romanshorn: 5% of the price and max. CHF 3,000 for the purchase of a new electric car (or plug-in hybrid with a minimum electric range of 50 km). Canton of Zurich
